Mesotherapy has been used for many years in aesthetic and skin treatments to improve overall skin tone and health. It is a method praised by models and celebrities around the world for tightened, brightened and smoothed skin.

Mesotherapy is a non-surgical skin treatment method that involves multiple injections to deliver microscopic amounts of a specific solution into the dermis or subcutaneous space.

So what is the best mesotherapy cocktail? It all depends on the person and their individual skin issues. The solution may consist of various ingredients, usually hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), vitamins and minerals (e.g. Vitamin C), antioxidants (e.g. Glutathione), botulinum toxin, hormones or micro-fats.

Is mesotherapy effective?

The benefits can vary slightly depending on the ingredients in the solution and the depth from which it is injected. The idea is that the trauma caused by multiple needles with the solution leads to skin rejuvenation. The mechanism involves trauma and stretching of fibroblasts, which leads to neocollagenesis (collagen stimulation)

The addition of different substrates can further enhance the results, leading to firmer and more radiant skin. Repeated treatments can lead to thicker dermis, improvement of fine lines and overall much healthier and younger looking skin. It also helps to hydrate the skin from the inside out, so it’s great for dehydrated skin and for people who travel frequently.

Treatment

First, you’ll have a consultation where a trained professional will talk you through what’s involved, the usefulness and potential side effects. Then, a numbing cream will be applied to your face for about 30 to 60 minutes until it works. After this time, you will usually receive multiple facial injections with micro-needles from a medical gun. The process is fairly quick (usually takes about 45 minutes) with little to no discomfort.

Not a fan of needles? Needle-free mesotherapy is also a possibility. It involves using a low-frequency skin rejuvenation device to penetrate these active ingredients deep into the dermis. As with traditional mesotherapy, the solution is fully customized to your skin type and needs. However, the penetration of the ingredients may be more limited compared to a traditional mesotherapy treatment.

Downtime

The treatment includes minimal downtime, but bruising can be expected over the next few days. I usually recommend leaving two to three days of downtime for bruising, especially if you are prone to bruising or have fairly thin skin.

Side effects

The main side effects are discomfort during the procedure and bruising and swelling after the procedure. Less commonly, an allergic reaction is possible. Pain and bruising are much worse if you are premenstrual, tired, stressed, have drunk alcohol in the previous days, or have taken aspirin, ibuprofen or fish oil in the previous days. Taking paracetamol an hour earlier may help ease the pain.

Effects

How long the results usually last depends on the individual candidate and the frequency of the treatment. With repeated treatments, the results will be more noticeable. Each time you have it done, your skin improves. The hydrating effect and overall glow lasts for about three to four months. Collagen stimulation occurs for three to six months after each treatment, so it’s a little slow, but the more treatments you do, the healthier and thicker the dermis becomes, thus improving fine lines and wrinkles.

The new collagen in a healthy patient lasts more than five years, even though the aging process is progressing at the same time. Mesotherapy really helps keep the skin healthy. If you performed this treatment two to three times a year, you would notice a significant difference in your appearance. If you want to see how mesotherapy works Poznań will be the place where you can get your skin looking good quickly. You can do a series of three treatments a month apart and then maintain them for three to six months.
