It takes approx. 3 minutes to read this article

There are so many interesting things in the world, you just have to be willing to explore them. Painting? It’s a fantastic thing. See how to get started with a paintbrush!

Just like singing, anyone can paint. The important thing is not to paint masterpieces that will be sold at auctions for millions, but that this activity gives us a lot of fun and brings satisfaction. And painting can be really relaxing, relaxing and perfectly develop creativity. However, many people do not know where to start their adventure with a brush – so we suggest what you need to start.

Read some guides

Before you go to the store to buy the necessary painting supplies, you need to answer the question – what you want to express and whether closer to your heart are crayons, paints, or maybe you would like to learn completely different painting techniques?

To begin with, it’s a good idea to read a little bit about painting, so that you have at least a minimum knowledge in this area. You can also use free tutorials available on the Internet. The main thing is to know how to properly hold a brush and what is perspective or horizon. A recommended publication is for example the one by Helen Douglas-Cooper entitled “How to paint”, where there are a lot of different painting problems discussed in a very accessible way.

Step two – buying the necessary painting accessories

Once you’ve decided what you want to paint on, it’s time to visit a paint store. You can find there a lot of ready sets for beginner painters, which include basic paints, blocks, prepared canvases of different sizes, brushes of different thickness and width, and even easels. Brushes are very important. The point is that they should be of good quality bristles. Their hardness and density affect how you paint with them, so it’s very possible that the ones that seem good at the beginning, over time will not meet your expectations.

The best paints to start with are watercolors, which dissolve in water. Oil paints are a bit more complicated to work with, and you need to use thinners.

An easel and a chair

To paint comfortably, you need an easel and a chair. This is the basis, because painting at a desk is not a good or comfortable solution. If we are going to paint at home, a simple wooden easel will suffice. However, if you want to paint outdoors, you should buy one that is lighter and can be quickly and easily mounted and set up. In addition, the chair – it is best if you can adjust its height and tilt angles. It’s important, because the point is to focus on the painting while painting, not how to assume a comfortable position.

Step three: inspiration

Finally – inspiration, or inspiration We need to think about whether we want to paint landscapes, still life, or maybe something completely different. It is worth looking for inspiration by looking at the works of various artists, perhaps one of them will have a style that will appeal to us.

And finally: painting

Prepare your painting space accordingly and grab a brush to paint your vision onto the canvas. You can make a pencil sketch first. Don’t be discouraged at the first failure – it takes some work and practice before your artwork has the desired look. The most important thing is that painting gives pleasure!
