Aging is a process that begins between the ages of 25 and 30. It is associated with external as well as internal factors. How to effectively delay aging?

What is skin aging?

Aging is a completely natural process associated with reduced cellular metabolic activity, increased susceptibility to oxidative stress and limited regenerative capacity of the body. Its first symptoms can be seen on the skin, whose condition depends on internal biological processes as well as external factors such as UV radiation. Facial expression is also a factor that accelerates the appearance of wrinkles

Speaking of skin aging, we cannot forget about the uneven distribution of melanocytes, which results in unsightly discoloration. An equally important role here plays the impaired ability to produce vitamin D and the operation of immune mechanisms.

How do scientists try to explain the aging process? For this purpose, among others, gene theory is used. According to scientists, aging is associated with various genes, the activity of which has a significant impact on reducing the regenerative capacity of the epidermis and flabbiness of the skin. The result is the appearance of damaged cells. As far as external factors influencing aging are concerned, the most important of them are: UV radiation, cigarette smoke, environmental pollution (including smog), unfavorable climatic conditions and the use of various stimulants

What is photoaging?

How to effectively delay the skin aging process? The first step is adequate sun protection. Be aware that overexposure to UV radiation can lead to changes in the connective tissue of the skin. This results in collagen damage and improper elastin fiber structure

Studies have shown that UV radiation leads to changes in the activity of skin enzymes and overactivation of the transcription factor-1. As a result of photoaging, the skin becomes susceptible to various infections and excessively dry. UV radiation also causes oxidative stress leading to the formation of free radicals, i.e. substances that lead to skin cell damage. The result – the loss of its elasticity and firmness, which manifests itself in the form of wrinkles and furrows. We may also have to deal with the formation of dermatoses, discoloration or cancerous lesions. If you want to avoid premature skin aging, you should remember about safe and sensible sunbathing.

What is hormonal aging?

The aging process is closely related to the moment of menopause. Its consequence is a reduction of the body’s concentration which translates into a lack of stimulation of estrogen receptors. As a result, the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen is inhibited and the ability to regenerate keranocytes is reduced. In addition, there is a disruption of the lipid coat of the epidermis. This makes the skin prone to wrinkles, dry and grayish

How to effectively delay the aging process?

What are some proven ways to delay the aging process? One of them is a well-rounded diet rich in vegetables, fruits, lean meats and fish, groats and high-quality fats. In addition, you should take care of proper hydration of the body and regular physical activity. Regular exfoliation treatments may also be helpful. Last but not least, it is important to follow the rules of safe sunbathing, which include avoiding sunbathing between 11:00 and 16:00 and using cosmetics with a high SPF factor.
